Discovering Helvetia this Autumn

Discovering Helvetia

Lucas enjoying a stroll in Helvetia.

Nestled in the mountains, Helvetia is a quaint little hamlet in Randolph County (2 hours from Reedsville). This isolated community settled by the Swiss and German immigrants from Brooklyn, New York in 1869. This authentic destination maintains it’s Swiss traditions, food and folkways.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Hütte Restaurant, a family-owned restaurant located in the heart of Helvetia.

Jacob enjoying the stream running through town.

Join us for a documentary screening and dinner inspired by The Hütte restaurant on Sunday, October 23, 2022 in Reedsville.

“Born in a Ballroom” explores the relationship between the Hütte Restaurant, its founder, Eleanor Mailloux, and the rural Appalachian village she called home, Helvetia, West Virginia.
