How To Brew Iced Tea
Get ready for spring and brew iced tea like the experts at Smith Tea.
Iced Black Tea and Iced Herbal Infusions
For our Exceptional Iced Tea and Big Hibiscus Iced Tea, bring freshly filtered water to a boil and pour enough water to cover the leaves to make a concentrate, about 1 1/2 cups (350ml). After 5 minutes, remove and discard the tea. Add about 2 1/2 cups (600ml) of cool water to the concentrate, to lower the temperature. When ready to serve, pour over ice and enjoy.
To make any of our other black teas and herbal infusions iced, for each regular sachet, use 4 ounces of hot water and then dilute with 4 ounces of cool water.
Iced Green Tea
For our Fez Iced Tea, bring freshly filtered water to about 180 or 190 degrees. Without a thermometer, this can be achieved by letting boiling water cool for about 2 minutes. Pour about 1 1/2 cups (350ml) of water into your steeping vessel first, then add the tea. This is called bringing tea to water (as opposed to bringing water to tea for black teas and herbal infusions). After 3 minutes, remove and discard the tea. Add about 2 1/2 cups (600ml) of cool water to the concentrate to lower the temperature. When ready to serve, pour over ice and enjoy.
To make any of our other green teas iced, for each regular sachet, use 4 ounces of hot water and then dilute with 4 ounces of cool water.
